Gunpowder was first discovered accidentally in ancient china by alchemists searching for an elixir of immortality.
Since then it has had many uses both destructive and celebratory. Cai Guo- Qiang uses these extreme associations to create striking compositions that reflect the emotional toil that gunpowder has had on the world since its discovery. His large scale contemporary compositions use coloured gunpowder and abstraction yet his art spans installation video and performance whilst exploring socio cultural and political contexts. Very inspiring work, worth the visit at the White Cube

This week I had a really exciting opportunity to visit the Confuence : Peter Layton & Tim Rawlinson exhibition where I got to witness first hand the collaborative art form of glassmaking. Inspired by visual texture, colour and surface treatments, I made a series of intergalactic studies using scanned objects and chalk.I am excited to continue exploring the optical depth and flowing movement of glassmaking as a process this year.

Such an exciting visit to the Met !! New York has such an impressive collection of renowned art pieces. Klimt, Van Gogh, Monet, Claes Oldenburg, Mondrian, Seurat, Warhol, Rousseu etc etc etc so lucky to have seen these in person ahhh
