About Hanger
Hanger is a project proposal I created that transforms how we connect with our clothes through a gamified, swipe-based swapping system. It reduces overconsumption by presenting one item at a time and offering a free, mindful alternative to fast-fashion habits. Swaps can happen at dedicated Swap Hubs or through optional shipping for flexibility.
The Solution
The Problem
Through primary and secondary research, I identified key problems in the way we shop and designed an alternative that keeps the fun of fast fashion while addressing the issues consumers face online and in-store. From the initial concept to the full UX design and logo, I developed a project proposal that puts the everyday user first, offering a more mindful, affordable and community-driven way to refresh their wardrobe. Hanger reimagines the shopping experience by combining excitement, sustainability and simplicity into one seamless platform.
Overconsumption. We grow out of clothes, change our styles or give into micro trends, as our wardrobes get bigger our wallets and the environment suffer.
Impulse Buying.
Due to choice overload we buy more clothes than they need, leading to massive textile waste and short garment lifecycles.
Material Waste. The fashion industry generates around 92 million tonnes of textile waste globally every year.
High Cost. Young consumers want variety but can’t afford constant new purchases, especially with rising living costs..
Hanger transforms the thrill of instant gratification into a sustainable practice using gamified, dating app-inspired by the relationships connections and bonds we form with our clothes. Hanger's features promotes making eco-conscious choices fun, rewarding and addictive. Unlike resaleplatforms that often mimic fast fashion habits by encouraging bulk buying and endless scrolling. By being presented with one item at a time our app is designed to reduce over-consumption, not just re-package it . The goal isn't to own more, its not own better.
